The policeman was seen grabbing a woman by her hair.
Bhopal:
A policeman was seen pulling a woman’s hair and kicking her as she fell to the ground in shocking footage from a village in Chhattisgarh. Several other police personnel were also seen dragging another woman into a police van parked near her.
The gruesome scene unfolded during an anti-invasion campaign in the village of Tilsiva in Surajpur district. Police said they retaliated after the women attacked some local revenue officials.
A case was registered against the women and they were put behind bars.
“Some locals attacked the revenue officer during the anti-invasion campaign. We are investigating the case,” Surajpur Police Additional Superintendent Madhulika Sharma said.
The administration alleged that eighteen people had trespassed on land intended for a cattle barn. Local. however, he said they have been living there for years.
“We’ve been staying here for years. No one stopped us before this,” said one woman.
He also alleged that the police also assaulted a pregnant woman.
Video of the assault has gone viral even as authorities have yet to rule on the use of force by police personnel on the women.
The police said that during the trip the women attacked local revenue officials, so a case has been filed against them.
