The police watchdog has announced it will investigate an accident that killed two teenagers and sparked a riot in Cardiff, after security cameras showed a police vehicle following a bicycle minutes before the incident.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct said in a statement: “Following a referral from South Wales Police, we decided to independently investigate an incident in Ely, Cardiff, on Monday, which resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.
“Our decision to investigate follows our assistance with the post-incident police proceeding and after a review of the information received to date.”
The police watchdog will investigate “any interaction” between South Wales police officers and two teenagers before they were killed while riding an electric bike.
