Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu has asked the affected districts to contact power distribution companies to restore power supply and take the help of fire department personnel to remove uprooted trees and broken branches. He has sought reports from the districts on damage to houses and the number of casualties. The IMD said 14 places in the western part of the state recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius during the day, with Talcher being the hottest place at 42.8 degrees Celsius. After this Sambalpur recorded maximum temperature of 42.7 degree Celsius, Naupada maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius and Jharsuguda maximum temperature of 42.2 degree Celsius. State capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius in the first half of the day, while a thunderstorm was experienced in the afternoon. The IMD has forecast similar weather conditions of heat during the day and rain in the evening for the next three days.
