Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India opener WV Raman feels that the presence of MS Dhoni will give Chennai Super Kings an edge in the IPL 2023 final to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 28. The four-time former IPL champions will face the winner. of Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. According to Raman, Dhoni keeps it simple and is unfazed by the things that happen around him.
“He (Dhoni) keeps it simple. What he does is not think about who he is not. Chennai Super Kings had some injury concerns this season but were unfazed about it. What he does extraordinarily well is that he tries to get the best out of whoever is available and that’s the hallmark of a great captain. He makes good use of his resources and gets the results. I feel the presence of him will definitely give Chennai an edge in the final,” Raman said.
There have been some impressive performances from youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma and others. According to Raman, it proves that India has enormous talent.
“Many youngsters did well. We have seen fantastic performances from them, which means that India has enormous talent and they are already ready to play for India, perhaps from the next WTC cycle and in future World Cups,” Raman said.
“Yashasvi has been in great form not only in the current IPL but he has also been in good form for his state side and red ball cricket. He has acted for a period of the last two seasons, which shows that he is hungry and constantly learning. Adopted well,”
“Ruturaj is another cricketer who has been fantastic and is doing well. He didn’t get enough chances but I’m sure he will fight his way to the Indian side”.
“Jitesh Sharma has shown an excellent temperament and ability to play according to the situation in the role assigned to him by his franchise. With Rishabh Pant out with injury, he is someone to watch as he can really hit well, which can benefit him.”
Raman was also very impressed with Rinku Singh and feels he should be given a chance in the Indian T20I team considering the T20 World Cup in 2024.
“He will always be on the selectors’ radar. It all depends on the type of paper they want to give you. Rinku Singh will be a name that will ring the bell in every selector’s head,” Raman said.
