The Trump campaign posted another video mocking DeSantis’ pitch in which the presidential candidate is on a group call with the devil and Adolf Hitler.
The two-minute clip shows an avatar of DeSantis struggling to declare his offer over the sound of George Soros, the hedge fund mogul, trying to work with technology and Dick Cheney, the former US vice president, coughing.
Others on the fictional call are Musk, the FBI and Klaus Schwab, president of the World Economic Forum.
Asked if they thought DeSantis’ pitching was a car accident, a Trump aide texted: “Sounds like it, right?”
Choosing to pitch on Twitter was an unorthodox choice that suggested an unrestricted, unchoreographed event, possibly intended to suggest Mr. DeSantis’ agility as a candidate.
But for much of his opening, the Florida governor appeared to be reading prepared remarks. “More like Yawn DeSantis,” conservative activist Jack Posobiec tweeted.
The car crash release comes as Trump was given a court date for his criminal trial over alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels for March 2025.
Trump called it “election interference” as the date coincides with the critical Republican primary.
