France may see a big jump in its defense budget with President Emmanuel Macron pushing for a substantial 30 percent increase in military spending.
This increased defense budget, to be implemented within the next seven years, will see France’s military spending rise to $450 billion.

The Loi de programming militaire (LPM) covers the period from 2024 to 2030. It is expected to undergo two weeks of intense debate and deliberation. The bill proposes the allocation of around 413 billion euros to France’s defense budget until 2030 amid rising global geopolitical tension amid the Ukraine war.
The government of France has urged the French parliament to implement an expedited process to expedite the Loi de programming militaire (LPM).
If the army is put through an expedited process, it will see a single reading in the lower and upper houses of the French parliament. French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly wants the military bill passed before France’s national day celebrations on July 14.
The bill also calls for the modernization of the French armed forces and places special emphasis on improving nuclear deterrence capabilities.
