Portfolio Allocation In Karnataka: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday (May 24) that portfolios would be assigned to his ministers soon. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had raised the issue of non-assignment of portfolios to ministers in the Assembly. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai had questioned the Ministers regarding the delay in the distribution of portfolios, on which the Chief Minister assured the former Chief Minister in the House that this work would be done soon.
In Karnataka, Siddaramaiah and state unit chief DK Shivakumar were sworn in as chief minister and deputy chief minister on May 20. Along with this, eight other MLAs were given ministerial berths, but departments have not been allotted to them yet. The Chief Minister had introduced his cabinet in the assembly.
Bommai said on the introduction of ministers
Former CM Bommai had said about the cabinet that he was happy that the Chief Minister introduced the ministers in the house. All of them have worked as ministers in the past. Congratulations to the Chief Minister and all the ministers, but it would have been better if the Chief Minister had given such an introduction that DK Shivkumar is the minister of such and such a department, G Parmeshwar is the minister of such and such a department.
Yeddyurappa was administered the oath alone
Bommai raised the question, “Why didn’t this happen? This should be done soon. In my opinion, the sooner it is the better.” On this Siddaramaiah assured him that it would be done soon. Bommai said, “Yeddyurappa was sworn in alone, so he was alone, but in this case ministers have taken oath.” You made him a minister but did not assign him responsibilities, what would people think?
