Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s campaign to bring opposition parties together against the Centre’s ordinance has now gone a step further. On Wednesday, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena also announced to support the Delhi government. Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav have announced to oppose this ordinance in Rajya Sabha.
On Wednesday, Kejriwal met Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena in Mumbai to seek his support. During the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal said that the people of Delhi have got the support of Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray as well. Together we will not allow the anti-people and anti-Delhi law to be passed in the Rajya Sabha. At the same time, Uddhav Thackeray said that the decision given by the Supreme Court regarding the rights of Delhi was very important for democracy, but the Center overturned it by bringing an ordinance. We are all together to save the constitution of the country from anti-democratic people.
AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and said that everyone knows that the people of Delhi fought a long battle for their rights. As soon as the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Delhi in 2015, the central government passed a notification and took away all our powers. Our government was formed in February 2015 and in May (within three months) the Modi government took away our powers by issuing a notification. After this, the people of Delhi fought for their rights in the Supreme Court for 8 years.
Chief Minister Kejriwal says that after this the Supreme Court gave its verdict in favor of the elected government of Delhi. After a long battle of eight years, the day the Supreme Court’s decision came, within just 8 days the central government again took away all our powers from us by bringing an ordinance. In a democracy, the elected government should have powers so that it can work in the interest of the people. Because in a democracy only the elected government is accountable to the people. But the central government took away all the powers from us. These people are clearly saying that we do not accept the decision of the Supreme Court.
Kejriwal said that in the last few months we have also seen how their ministers and leaders have abused other judges of the Supreme Court. They run campaigns on social media against the country’s judiciary and judges. His people call retired judges traitors. That is, they do not believe in the judiciary of the country. Now by bringing the ordinance, they have made it clear that whatever decision the Supreme Court takes, we do not accept it. We will overturn the decision of the Supreme Court by bringing an ordinance anytime. This way the country will not be able to run. These people do not even believe in the democracy of the country. Its Shiv Sena is the biggest victim. In Maharashtra, they toppled the government elected by the majority by breaking the MLAs with the help of ED-CBI and money. Everyone has seen this.
