New Delhi. MiG-29K. A fighter jet made the first night landing on the indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in what the Indian Navy has described as a “historic achievement”. The Navy said the “challenging” ‘night landing’ trial demonstrated the determination, skill and professionalism of the crew of INS Vikrant and the pilots of the Navy.
Officials said the feat was achieved on Wednesday night when the ship was in the Arabian Sea. Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal said, “The MiG-29 K on INS Vikrant. The Indian Navy has achieved another historic feat by carrying out the first night landing. This is a sign of the Navy moving towards self-reliance.”
