Prime Minister Narendra Modi called his visit to Australia “important” and said it will “advance friendship” between the two countries. PM Modi was in Australia as part of the final leg of his three-country tour, which began in Japan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese in Sydney on Wednesday and discussed bilateral ties between the two countries and defense, among other topics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday attended a big event for the Indian community in Australia along with Anthony Albanese. At the event, the Australian Prime Minister called PM Modi “The Boss” and compared his popularity to that of legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen.

India and Australia finalized the Economic Cooperation Trade Agreement (ECTA) last year and it entered into force last December. The two parties are now working on the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
