The FIR against Singh was lodged following a Supreme Court order on an appeal by wrestlers who had accused Singh of sexual harassment. He made the remarks on Thursday at a meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich regarding preparations for the saints’ rally in Ayodhya on June 5. He said, “Under the leadership of saints, we will force the government to change the law (POCSO). All the allegations against me are baseless. They don’t have any proof against me.

Top wrestlers of the country including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia have been protesting against the WFI chief at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since April 23, demanding his arrest. The Kaiserganj MP claimed, “This law is being misused against children, elders and saints. Even officials are not immune to its misuse.” “Under the leadership of the Mahatmas, we will force the government to change the (POCSO) law,” he was quoted as saying by the news agency. Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against the WFI chief. The first FIR pertains to allegations of sexual harassment by a minor wrestler against Brij Bhushan Singh, for which he has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The second FIR pertains to outraging modesty.

Brij Bhushan Singh reiterated that all the allegations leveled against him are false. He said that the POCSO law was brought by the Congress government without examining its various aspects. The Sports Ministry has suspended all activities of the wrestling federation till the probe into allegations of sexual harassment of wrestlers against the WFI chief is over.
