Protests broke out in Pakistan after former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. His party leaders and supporters stormed Jinnah House and set it on fire and also attacked several military installations. This comes after Punjab’s interim chief minister Mohsin Naqvi announced last week that women involved in the May 9 attacks on military installations would be arrested at all costs.
A few days back, before his surrender, in an audio clip circulated on social media, Shah can be heard narrating the hardships his family has faced in the last few days, The Express Tribune reported. She admitted that she was a PTI supporter and was part of the protest outside the Lahore Corps Commander’s House, but denied any wrongdoing, including inciting people to violence. A fashion designer by profession, Khadija Shah is the granddaughter of the late Chief of Army Staff General (R) Asif Nawaz Janjua. She is the daughter of former finance advisor Dr. Salman Shah, who was a member of former President Pervez Musharraf’s finance team and also served as an advisor in the Punjab government during the Usman Bujdar government.
